Three researchers from the Powerlab travel to China to participate in two IEEE conferences.

Researchers Samir Kouro, Marcelo Perez and Patricio Cortes were involved in different types of activities in two IEEE conferences held in China.

Dr. Kouro and Dr. Perez participated in the version number 21 of IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, ISIE 2012, held between 28 and 31 May 2012 in the city of Hangzhou, and organized by the Zhejiang University. In this oportunity, Dr. Kouro issued the tutorial: "Wind Energy Conversion Systems: Fundamentals, Topologies and Control." For his part, Dr. Perez participated through the exhibition of the papers: "A Simple Modulation Scheme for a Three-Phase Matrix Converter Direct", "DC Voltage Balance Control in a Cascaded Multilevel Modular Converter" and "Decoupled Current Control of Modular Multilevel Converter for HVDC Applications ". In addition, Dr. Kouro and Dr. Perez served as Session Chairs of three special sessions during the conference, two on Multilevel Converters and one  on
Wind Energy Conversion Systems.

A few days later, the 7th IEEE International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, IPEMC-ECCE Asia from 02 al June 5, 2012 in Harbin, was organized by Harbin Institute of Techn
ology. At this conference, Dr. Samir Kouro presented the publication , "Predictive Control of a Single-phase H-Bridge Cascaded Photovoltaic Energy Conversion System", while Dr. Cortes presented the publications: "Comparative Evaluation of Control Schemes for a High Bandwidth Three-Phase AC Source "," Comparative Evaluation of Predictive Control Schemes for Three-Phase Buck-Type PFC Rectifiers "and the tutorial," Predictive Control - A Simple and Powerful Method to Control Power Converters and Drives ".
